Reiki is a powerful yet gentle universal energy that can be offered as a healing modality through the hands and energy field of a practitioner. It supports relaxation, healing, and revealing of our True Nature, and can be provided as either a hands-on or hands-off technique. The energy of Reiki will always respect the free will of a recipient and if a person resists the energy at any level, Reiki will not intrude on personal choice making it very safe. Reiki is a self-healing energy that works with each person individually, and can also be an enriching spiritual practice of self-renewal that supports us to live fully, compassionately, and authentically in our human being-ness on the Earth.

There were other systems of Reiki practice prior to Mikao Usui creating his form of Reiki in Japan in March 1922. However, Usui Reiki has likely had the furthest reach into Western cultures. Regardless of the system, Reiki energy is everywhere and is universally available. The energy is aligned with by way of a Reiki Master providing attunements, placements and ignitions to a student. Once the Reiki attunement has been transmitted, the student will never lose the energy and the student can continue to empower and strengthen their connection to the energy over time. Although Reiki is most popularly known as a healing modality, if one is called to further develop their relationship with Reiki, it can become a grounding and centering way of life.

A Personal note from Kelley:

As both a Reiki Master teacher and a Shamanic Breathwork® Master Practitioner, I feel called to share something that comes up in my teachings, and what I perceive to be somewhat of a misconception that Reiki is only about love and light. The reason I am a teacher and practitioner of both Reiki and Shamanic (transformational) processes is that in my own journey I have needed both in order to recover myself from codependency and chronic over giving, and to find harmony and balance within myself. When I teach Reiki, I speak about how the Reiki energy is from the highest energy frequencies and that it will come in and gently yet powerfully illuminate your inner landscape and work with you individually and in your sovereignty. I also teach that it will meet you where you are, and if there are denser energies in your psyche and body that need your attention and healing (shadow elements), Reiki will not pass through them but will bring them up for you to look at and release. Many people who want to work with only the lighter energies are not prepared with the tools that they need to transform those denser energies when they arise. It is critical that shadow work be a part of any healing work that a person does if they want to be a healthy and grounded vessel for higher frequencies. Likewise, had I not learned to receive the loving energy of Reiki and the Divine feminine, as a balance to the sometimes very dense and yang energies of shamanic transformation, I would have stayed stuck for too long in the drama and trauma of the shadow, beating myself up. For me, it has been an important balancing act that I did not always get quite right, but that is the journey and that is why we support one another in the work. To be accountable and responsible people and practitioners, we need to engage in both honest, deep transformation as well as opening to and receiving love and kindness for ourselves. And we have to find that balance anew over and over again as life unfolds, it is not ever "complete".
