Holding Circles for Communal Solitude

After years of facilitating healing and wholeness-focused circles, I have found that in these somewhat confusing times for humanity, being able to hear our own true quiet inner voice in the midst of the noise of life is critical to a sense of well-being and clarity. Creating small trusting circles of fellowship allows for the wild and shy nature of each individual’s soul to feel safe to emerge and be heard. In creating circles of communal solitude we can be in the sacred space of our aloneness, to hear our own deepest wisdom and also be interconnected in our human natures. These circles are opened and held on the foundation of patience, presence, respect, and attention.

In Alone Together Circles, a short reading or meditation for reflection may be offered, intimacy in shared silence is invited, and openings for sharing and witnessing without expectation or feedback are created. In this simple way, the most tender inner experience and truth can be felt and communed with by each circle member, and if that deeply personal encounter wishes to be shared outwardly there is a safe space to do so. Whether one is called to share in circle or not, time is given for journaling or creating art to give the inner experience an outer expression that can continue to inform the personal journey in its own time and way.
